So, after filling out demographics, it told me this:

You do not meet the requirements to participate in this survey.

However, the study includes a random lottery with payment of up to $150. If you would like to enter this lottery as bonus pay, paste the code below into MTurk:

So, I submitted the HIT with the provided completion code and gave them my worker ID.

Cons

Could it be that they will be rejecting the HIT but entering me into the lottery? Time will tell! It would be pretty crappy though. After all they could have told me to NOT submit the HIT but to give them my worker ID for the lottery!

UPDATE: The rejection was overturned! Happened within a day or two. Much appreciated!

Cons

Received a rejection due to, I think, a problem with how this HIT was formatted. I apparently screened out but was instructed to enter a provided completion code for a chance at winning a lottery, but then rejected for submitting despite not qualifying, so a little confusing. Contacted the requester to see how that goes.

Edit: rejection was overturned the next day! Thanks to this guy for being fair.

Cons

Received a rejection for following the requester's exact instructions: despite not qualifying for the HIT, to enter a given code into the Mturk page, so I could be entered into a lottery. I have attempted to contact the requester so we'll see what happens.

Advice to Requester

Don't reject people for following your exact instructions. Better yet, fix the structure of your HIT to actually allow for what you're asking so you don't need to reject anyone.
