Gives you a completion code even if you you do not "qualify" to continue the surveyWill reject you despite having a valid completion code
Was rejected for the reason: "Dear Mr./Mrs., Thanks for your participation in our academic research. But we regret to inform you that your questionnaire does not meet our standards. The group we're looking for are those who no longer use certain mobile stocks trading platforms. As you may notice after you selected the answer [No] on the first question [Have you ever used a certain mobile stocks trading platform, but for some reason, you did not continue to use it?], the questionnaire jump straight to the end. Best, Matt"
However, while the survey did "jump straight to the end" after the first view questions where I indicated I continue to use mobile trading apps, I received a completion code afterwards. This indicated to me that they were looking to see how many people still use the apps, while also trying to learn why those who used the apps in the past would continue not to.
After all, if I was filtered out, why would I be given a completion code? My mistake for assuming, I suppose, but that just goes to show that this Requestor can't be trusted to properly run a HIT.
After contacting the Requestor and warning them about their behavior (I even explained I'd be leaving negative reviews warning others of their conduct) they replied with a threatening email, saying the following:
"Sorry again for the rejection. However, we are not going to reverse the rejection.
"We paid you to do the questionnaire to provide useful information for my research. We do have the right to reject you if you did not answer the questionnaire as we expected. And the survey code we provided is just convenient for us to filter out those workers who did not meet our requirements afterward."
"If you insist on playing word games with us, you can complain to Amazon. Meanwhile, we will do the same. I would let Amazon know that they have a rogue worker who is trying to get easy money for nothing by playing word games."
I have no idea what they're even talking about. I don't know what these "word games" are? I can only assume they believe the fact that I submitted the HIT - despite them providing a valid completion code and now admitting that they do so - and bothered to contact them about their ill designed HIT (which I now believe is not incompetence but intentional malice) means to them that I'm playing games with them... And they will report me to Amazon for my "rogue" behavior.
This type of bullying behavior should not be tolerated. I hope everyone else steers clear of this Requestor!
Advice to Requester
Simply DO NOT give out completion codes after filtering people out! If you give them out to everyone, then you'll be rejecting the majority of respondents!Do NOT threaten Workers who have an issue with how you run your HITS! Learn how to be a reasonable human being instead!
