In contrast to some other people, I found it kind of fun. There is writing required, but it's nothing difficult and you are allowed to just say you don't know. It's a lot more simple and requires a lot less thinking than some other prediction hits.The hit was approved very quickly and I received my bonus in a few minutes, just now while typing this.
Cons
Pay is low, unfortunately. If you find this task enjoyable it could be worth it for you, but if you don't you will probably hate it. There are no breaks, so you are occupied for the entire duration of the hit, which takes about an hour and it's not possible to do it any faster.The hit title could mislead you into thinking the bonus will be $7.25, while in reality that is the total amount you receive for the hit, which includes the 50 cents of the hit itself. So the bonus is actually $6.73. I didn't realize this until I received it while writing this. I might not have taken it up if I knew.

Garbage. Top 3 estimators out of 64 will be awarded a bonus ranging from 5-10 and all players from the best team out of four will get $10 each. The bonus shouldn't even be mentioned in the title. This sounds similar to the recent group chat about climate change (?) hit that pulled the same nonsense. Likely from the same school. Bonuses to be paid out after events occur so in August I assume. Received the $10 bonus.
Hi Penelope. Apologies for the very late response. I’m new to MTurk and have only recently discovered these reviews.
I’m sorry you had... a poor experience with my HIT. I’m not aware of the climate change group chat hit you described so I can’t comment as to whether it’s from the same school. But what I can say is that as a graduate student, the funding we receive is both strict and minimal. I did my best to think of a reasonable incentive scheme to make the most of what I had (25% of participants received a bonus of $10 or more, such as yourself).
And to answer your question — yes, I did need to ask whether you felt the pay was fair because the HITs I ran in July were the first ones I’ve ever done on MTurk. I wanted some feedback from workers as I truly did not know what the norms were.
Anyways, thanks very much for participating in my HIT and I hope my response provides some clarity as to why some aspects were disappointing.

Significant and repetitive writing to explain your predictions, a lot of time eaten up by waiting, additional bonus up to $20 seems fairly unlikely and $10 of that bonus opportunity is based on being in the most accurate network with other workers. Without the additional $10 bonus the hourly would be quite bad.

I’m sorry that the payment was not... satisfactory to you. Unfortunately I cannot offer much conciliation aside from explaining that as a graduate student I do not have much control over the amount that I can pay participants. I tried to make the most of what I had by coming up with a reasonable incentive scheme, hence the bonus you received.
