They want you to create an ID that will be used in the followup studies, using a piece of your name and a piece of your phone number. I wasn't comfortable with that so I got creative. ALSO - I'm not sure what will happen if you get a followup study (in December or January) and can't remember that number. They are using it to connect the data from each study; without it they won't be able to do that.UPDATE 14 December: I didn't realize today's study was the followup to the previous one until I got to the end. I wasn't sure the code I'd made up was the right one so I returned the HIT and closed the page without submitting the data. There's supposed to be another study next month. I can't guarantee I'll catch it so I've blocked the requester so I won't see it.
Advice to Requester
Please don't have people use personal information, even just partial information. If you need them to create an ID just have them use a word and a number of their choice. Also, you need to come up with a way to connect your data if the participant can't remember the ID they created a month or two before, because that's very likely to happen.
