The requester created a Reddit thread asking why he was getting garbage data quality here: https://www.removeddit.com/r/mturk/comments/g9fp61/hey_michael_petrochuk_here/After receiving a lot of criticism and feedback for his poor outlook on MTurk and its workers in general, as well as trying to use TurkerView to justify his low pay, he made promises to at least increase the payrate to 10 cents, improve the HIT layout, and use disqualifications and blocks to dissuade any bad workers from working on his batches. This didn't come without some choice quotes from Petrochuk himself, however:
"We are paying 6 cents for 21 seconds of work, which is equal to 9 dollars an hour. ... Is that fair? Do you expect to get paid more than 9$/hr?"
"The intention is to pay 9$/hr, not 21$/hr."
"Sorry, I based my payment based on an ethics document circulated around the office. It recommended that we pay slightly higher than the minimum wage in the US, which is generally regarded as a livable wage."
None of the criticism or feedback from the Reddit thread has been implemented, as the batch still features the same garbage that makes this batch not worth it:
Having to listen to the audio twice
Same repetitive 'What are you listening with?' question that wastes time
Apparently a 10 HIT limit on the batch, which is hidden in the 'Open Notice' section instead of the instructions
Entire audits of your work, which comes with threats of rejections
The random HIT I completed included a 12 second audio clip. Because of the survey and having to listen to the audio twice, this would bring the batch below minimum wage. It is beyond insulting to have this Requester not even try to implement any feedback that would allow him to get better results from batches after getting tons of feedback from Reddit, as it shows that he still doesn't care about the MTurk community in general, and will continue to release underpaid garbage and continue to cherry pick stats from TurkerView to try to justify releasing said underpaid garbage.

Edit for communication rating: So a couple of the HITs I did in this batch got rejected, and I messaged the requester inquiring about them because I was so far off the mark and was wondering where I went wrong. He replied quickly, saying he'd reverse the rejections because I'd written such a thoughtful email, which I thought was very generous right off the bat as when I reviewed the sound files he sent me I was surprised at myself for the rating I'd given (although I could rationalize what I'd been thinking at the time of rating them). He was having technical issues with reversing them and had to contact Amazon. He said he'd even paid for accelerated customer support and they still weren't really helping. He really went above and beyond to try and help me out and reverse the rejections. It took a few weeks, but they did get reversed and I couldn't adequately express how grateful I was for his help.TL; DR: a generous paying batch from a really stellar requester. Thanks again, Michael!
