Requested an additional $0.75 to make up to the wage promised in the info sheet for this survey. This was paid in a bonus.Req took exception to this with attitude:
"Correct me if I am wrong, but when you started the HIT it informed you that you would be paid $1.25? In the future it would be best to not complete the HIT and alert the researcher to the discrepancy, rather than assume the higher amount."
When I told other people who took the same survey to ask for their promised wage, I got this back:
"I am now receiving several requests stating that a post to a forum let people know they could receive a bonus. You need to understand that researchers work on a very tight budget, and most people correctly understood the amount they would be paid ($1.25), which is generous by MTurk standards (i.e. more than $.10 a min). I apologized for the clerical error and paid you money for your confusion. Please be considerate of the fact that researchers are human and not take advantage of their mistakes."
Read your consent forms. Get what you were promised, because if the roles were reversed, you better be damn sure that they will claim that the info sheet is binding.
